John Kerry said this yesterday (emphasis mine):
"It is absolutely stunning, that of the $18 billion dollars that we approved last year for the reconstruction of Iraq ..."The $18 billion dollars that was, by the way, part of the $87 billion for Iraq and Afghanistan that John Kerry voted against.
So let me get this straight: Kerry is pissed off that the Bush Administration has not spent the money that if Kerry had his way, would not exist.
One wonders what Kerry's position would be if the money had been voted down. Would he still be "stunned" that the money, which would not exist, had not been spent?
What is clear is that Kerry is now trying to associate himself with being a part of "approving" the money, I suppose in yet another modification of Kerry's position.
I can only think of it this way:
Kerry was for the $87 billion, before he was against it, before he was for it.
